The Finance Director is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial operations and strategy of the organization. This role ensures the financial health of the company by managing financial planning, risk management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The Finance Director will lead and develop a team of finance professionals while collaborating closely with executive leadership to provide insightful financial analysis and support strategic decision-making. This individual will work to enhance financial processes, optimize resource allocation, and drive the company’s growth and profitability in line with its long-term objectives.
1. Participate in the development and implementation of the finance strategies, policies and procedures to achieve the company integrated plans, objectives and vision.
2. Oversee management of finances, preparation and submission of budget estimates and annual plans and offer oversight to enable the company meet its financial obligations.
3. Oversee implementation and monitoring of performance management systems in finance unit.
4. Supervision and management of work performance of staff in finance unit.
5. Provide financial advice to the Management to ensure that best practices are adopted in financial management.
6. Develop financial plans and budget for department to ensure the department meets its financial obligations.
7. Supervise, oversee and coordinate all the functions, operations and activities of the Finance Department.
8. Prepare, present and guide the Management on financial reports.
9. Appraise and advise on the acquisition and disposal of assets.
10. Ensure that the company is in compliance with its financial and relevant regulatory matters.
11. Advise and give opinion to the management on legal, statutory and contractual matters affecting the company.
12. Ensure that the books of accounts are audited and provide supporting documentation for audits.
13. Confirm, verify, review and approve payments within the set limits.
14. Must be knowledgeable in use of accounting software such as QuickBooks, sage.
Minimum Requirements/ Qualifications
a) Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or other related field from a recognized university.
b) Possess a professional qualification – CPA/ACCA and be a member of a professional body
c) Have not less than five (5) years’ general relevant working experience in a senior finance position in a recognized corporate organization and at least three (3) years of which must be in a service industry.
d) Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations and reporting standards.
e) Education sector knowledge with good understanding of business dynamics of the industry will be an added advantage.
f) Mastery of various accounting packages and accounting standards.
g) Ability to design and implement effective internal controls systems.

c) A technically strong professional with experience of corporate Tax and tax accounting together with a broad general awareness of all other taxes.
d) Must be able to use any accounting software such as QuickBooks
e) Excellent understanding of key controls & finance processes
