About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and driven Junior AI Solutions Engineer to join our growing team in Nairobi. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals eager to build hands-on experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
You will work alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement AI-powered solutions that address real business challenges. This role offers a strong learning environment with exposure to modern AI tools, frameworks, and real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML models for business use cases
- Support data preprocessing, feature engineering, and dataset preparation
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to understand requirements and translate them into AI-driven solutions
- Help build and maintain end-to-end AI pipelines, including model training, testing, and deployment
- Integrate AI models into applications using APIs and microservices
- Monitor model performance and contribute to optimization and improvements
- Document processes, models, and workflows for internal use
- Stay updated with the latest developments in AI, machine learning, and emerging technologies
Requirements
Education & Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong academic foundation in mathematics, statistics, or data science is an advantage
Technical Skills
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in Python (preferred), R, or Java
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn
- Understanding of core ML concepts (supervised/unsupervised learning, model evaluation, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software development principles
- Exposure to APIs, data pipelines, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or project experience in AI, machine learning, or data science
- Exposure to areas such as NLP, computer vision, or generative AI
- Familiarity with tools like ChatGPT, Git, Docker, or basic MLOps practices
- Participation in hackathons, open-source contributions, or research projects
